The Florida GCSA Best Management Practices Certification Program

The Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association is proud to administer the Golf Best Management Practices (BMP) Certification Program.  The Program is intended for golf course superintendents, assistant superintendents, and other industry professionals to demonstrate your understanding and implementation of Golf BMPs for operation and maintenance of Florida golf courses.  The Florida GCSA believes that Florida Superintendents are truly Environmental Stewards and by providing a certified program, we will continue to demonstrate our industry's positive respect and impact on the environment.

Certification in the Golf BMP Certification Program is valid for a period of 4 years.  A superintendent may become recertified by:

·         Attend an upcoming BMP Certification Class.

·         Retake the BMP Certification Exam.

·         Earn 4 CEU’s pertaining to BMP based programs and submit those CEU’s along with a brief description of how those CEU’s apply to Golf Best Management Practices to the Florida GCSA office.

·         Complete the BMP Checklist and submit that to the Florida GCSA office with a brief description of how you are implementing each practice.

The Florida GCSA received the 2015 Excellence in Government Relations Award in recognition of the Golf BMP Certification Program. In addition, our program continues to be the model for other BMP programs across the country.

The Golf BMP Certification Program was developed by the Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, United States Golf Association Green Section, and the University of Florida.

Participants receive training using the “Best management Practices for the Enhancement of Environmental Quality on Florida Golf Courses” Handbook including the following:
